Our Guarantee

Emerald Hills’ Cairns
Guarantee

This puppy is guaranteed to be free of any life threatening disease or illness for seven days from the date of pickup/delivery and two years from any serious inherited defects that would affect its ability to function as a companion/pet. The owner needs to be aware that the young puppy often has not received his full immunization series and can be very susceptible to serious, often life threatening diseases.  We ask that the new owner exercise reasonable care and caution relative to the exposure of the young dog to potentially contaminated environments such as the veterinary office, other kennels, dog shows, etc.  The Sellers cannot be responsible for the exposure to communicable disease after the dog has left our control.

In the case that such a defect should appear, upon verification by our veterinarian, we will replace the puppy from another litter if available then or within a reasonable time period thereafter upon the return of the dog at the purchaser’s expense or shall refund half of the purchase price of the dog and the owner may keep his/her dog. All shipping and veterinary costs are the owner’s responsibility.

Seller also guarantees this puppy to be free of congenital defects that make the puppy not suitable for the purpose of a "family pet" until one year from the date of birth.  Buyer understands that the following slight genetic defects are not considered serious or life threatening and therefore is not covered: umbilical hernia, un-descended testicle, under-bite or over-bite, Grade 1 or Grade 2 luxating patella, & allergies.  Buyer understands that a replacement option is only valid when health problems are attributed to a heredity problem and not due to accident or contagious and/or other illness.  If within the first 12 months of life a congenital defect is noted by a licensed Veterinarian, buyer may return the puppy unharmed, with AKC paperwork (buyer agrees to fill out all necessary forms to return ownership to the breeder), a copy of this contract and a written statement on letterhead from the examining licensed Veterinarian within 7 calendar days of exam.  Failure to do so will void this guarantee.  Upon verification by seller's Veterinarian of stated congenital defect, buyer may choose a replacement puppy of equal value, or receive a full refund of the original purchase price of $________.  Seller is not responsible for any Veterinarian bills or expenses incurred by buyer.________ (Buyer Initial)

The puppy should be raised properly and treated as a regular member of a family.  Following the rules of regular veterinary care, recommended diet, and an exercise program is a requisite of the guarantee being valid.

For this guarantee to remain in effect, the puppy must be examined by a veterinarian within 5 days of pickup/delivery as well as have annual veterinary checkups and treatment as prescribed.
Prof of such will be required.   This puppy must also be fed a name brand “Puppy Food" (Acceptable Brands would be IAMS, ProPlan, Science Diet, Eukinuba, Diamond, and Purina One, for the first year of life unless another diet is prescribed by a qualified veterinarian. (To insure guarantee, receipts of food purchases must be maintained.)

Owner must contact us within 24 hours of any life threatening disease or illness. Owner must contact us and also provided all needed documentation from vet within 1 week of diagnosis of any serous inherited defect. Confirmation of the genetic related health problem must be provided in the form of a statement, including appropriate laboratory data and x-rays from a licensed veterinarian.  Under certain circumstances, the Seller reserves the right to seek a second veterinary opinion concerning the dog’s health problem.

The buyer understands that this puppy has been sold with a Full AKC Registration.  This agreement is null and void if there is any evidence of abuse or neglect.

The temperament of a Cairn terrier is fun loving and curious.  They love their family, are smart and fairly easy to train.  A puppy will have ample spirit especially up to 18 months.  With proper equipment –i.e. - crate, lead, fenced yard, reading material and safe toys, it is very easy to raise a Cairn terrier.

Should problems arise, perhaps a call to the breeder is what is needed.

Please do not hesitate to call if there are any questions. (Weekday evenings are best.)
